Five basic steps for how to stop a slice, this guide is put together to help eliminate your slice, enjoy.

Step No.1:

At the address position, use your typical stance but position the golf ball towards the heal of the clubface rather than the centre.

Survey your grip at this stage you should have two V’s formed in each hand and they should both be pointing towards the right shoulder? This is really straight forward to put right if they dont, keeping both hands connected move them together towards your right.

In a standard grip you should be seeing two knuckles in your left hand, although for a really strong grip move your hands round untill you can see 2 1/2 knuckles.

You dont want too much tension in your forearms, this is caused by gripping the club to tightly, it will stop you from releasing the club through the impact zone.

Step No.2:

There is one little move I like to recommend for a good swing – in the backswing rotate the shoulders around your spine and allow the hands and arms to follow. Allowing the left knee to move in towards the middle of your stance at this stage is natural, but we dont want undue movement here – just a small lateral amount.

On completeing your backswing and before commencing your downswing, approximately 80% of your body weight should now be on the inside of your right foot. also your head will be just past the back of your ball, there should be just nominal lateral movement here.

This will produce awsome power through the impact zone.

Step No.3:

Now we are all set to start the downswing. There are two movements that should now start off the downswing – 1, begin to move your weight to your left side – 2, hold the beginning of your shoulder turn by pulling the hands straight down, imagine pulling on a rope hanging from the sky.

You will now be striking the golf ball from inside the target line, this is a very strong position to be in.

Step No.4:

Holding the shoulders square to your target line is what we wish to achieve at the impact zone. When you make contact with the ball rotate your hands (towards the target) through impact, this will give you a strong draw.

Your left side should be holding most of your body weight now.

Step No.5:

We are now at the beginning of your follow through, and your right arm should begin to straighten as you go through impact. As the clubhead gets to the ball visualise it going down and through the golf ball towards the target. You will now complete your follow through fully turning towards the target, your hands will be in a nice high finish and left palm pointing to the sky.

People say that golf requires both brawn as well as brains. The golf swing motion seems simple, but actually requires plenty of focus and precision during execution. A wrong swing could lead to an embarrassing miss of the ball, or worse- send the ball into a sand trap.

This is why it is important that the main thing a golfer learns is how to swing properly. First of all, every golfer must aim to finish high. Aiming high prevents golfers from hooking the ball, and instead, lets the ball to travel in a straighter line.

If you have a solid swing, you could attempt to hit the ball with over-the-shoulder swing as well. If done well, you will probably eliminate at least 5 strokes off your score chart. Besides aiming high, the golfer should also apply higher tees.

Change your lower tees from 2 ¾ to 3-inch tees. This is especially essential when the player is using an over-sized driver. Also, ensure that the golf ball is teed up until half of it is above the club face in order for your club face to hit the best surface area on the golf ball.

Always remember to set the ball higher, but also remember to align the globe with your left foot. If you are left handed, align the golf ball with your right foot. Do not tee the ball near your right foot (or your left foot if you are left handed) to deter the ball from traveling straight up instead of going at an angle.

Remember, the objective of a swing is to get the ball to move while the golf club is sweeping upwards. In order to increase your ball traveling distance, all you have to do it adjust your stance and hit the ball at the ideal spot during the upswing.
